This is a picture of our class behavior chart. Today your child brought home their behavior calendar in their Cobras folder. Your child will be responsible for their own behavior each day. At the end of each day they will put a "number in their box". That means that on their calendar they will have a number in today's box.
For example:
Today was our first day to do this and they had a number in the box that had 19 on it because today is August 19th. If their number was 3 that means they had a good day and they did not have to move their clip down. If their number was 4,5, or 6 that means your child had an awesome day, made great choices, and was caught many times doing EXACTLY what they were supposed to be doing. If a student moves their clip all the way up to 6 they get to put a special jewel on their clip. When their clip is filled up with a certain amount of jewels then it gets retired to the "Clip Hall of Fame", that student will receive a special visit to my prize box, and a new clip of course!
If your child has a 2 in their box that means that they had been warned once already but continued to make a bad choice and had to move their clip down. When they have to move their clip down a second time for bad choices where it is on the number 1 then they will fill out and bring home a "Think Sheet" where they have explained EXACTLY what they have done to have to move their clip down, why they did it, and what they will do differently the next day. The student will miss recess time until this Think Sheet is returned with a parent signature so that I know a parent/guardian has been made aware of their behavior. When a child has to move their clip down to 0 I will contact a parent/guardian at my soonest convenience to discuss what further action will be taken.
I do have a classroom handbook that explains in detail the majority of our classroom procedures and special things we do in class that I plan to send home to you as soon as possible so that you will be able to refer to it throughout the year when you do have a question about something! Again, thank you for your patience, cooperation, and understanding.
