100th day fun!

Last Friday January 31st we celebrated the 100th day of school! We had so much fun dressing up and acting like we were 100 years old all day! We even spoke to others using our best 100 year old voices! In everything we did on this day we incorporated the number 100! They wrote 100 words that were in our room and read them. They wrote their numbers to 100. They read and looked at books that had 100 facts or 100 things you should know! They worked on a 100 piece puzzle and also used 100 dominoes to create something they could knock over!

At the end of the day I put the students in teams and gave each team 100 linking cubes. They had 25 minutes to work together with their teammates to build the tallest STANDING tower possible! I walked around listening and observing. It is so amazing to hear what they are thinking! They had tremendous ideas during this project, worked well with their team members, and were able to practice their communication skills! This task was fun, educational, and challenging all at the same time!

We shared many laughs and made some wonderful memories on our 100th day of school!

STEAM night & Weaving!

Thank you so much to all who came and/or helped work at our STEAM night this past Monday Jan 27th! Your help and support is greatly appreciated and played a huge role in making this night a huge success! I hope that all who were there had a great time and enjoyed quality time at engaging educational activities with your children!

Although Ms. Halsay is gone we are still weaving away! The students that made pot holders in Art should have brought them home and they will be finishing up their individual weaving projects in the next two weeks in Art. We are also still working hard on our school wide weaving project that is in the cafeteria! If you haven't already seen this piece it is HUGE and I recommend you stop by to take a peek at it before it leaves the building! Thank you to all who have donated fabric or helped weave! All students in our building along with parents, grandparents, MDP staff, and community members have been working their fingers to the bone to help complete this project!
